about package 2
At Brilliant Minds Psychology, we provide thorough and supportive Autism assessments for adults, using a gold-standard approach informed by over a decade of experience. Our goal is to help you better understand yourself or a loved one, and to provide clear guidance for support, planning, and personal growth.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) reflects a unique neurodivergent way of experiencing the world. People with Autism may have differences in social communication, routines, sensory processing, and interaction styles. These differences are not viewed as limitations, but as part of the diverse spectrum of human thinking and learning.
Our assessments focus on understanding both strengths and challenges. While some areas of life may feel difficult such as relationships, work, or sensory environments, we also recognise the unique skills, talents, and ways of thinking that come with being Autistic. Our aim is to provide insight, practical strategies, and guidance to support your success and well-being across all areas of life.
The assessment process begins with a series of questionnaires to explore social skills, daily functioning, and personal experiences. This information, combined with in-clinic testing and observation, allows us to create a comprehensive, personalised report. This report can help with accessing support, workplace adjustments, educational planning, or simply gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.
At Brilliant Minds Psychology, we strive to create an empowering and affirming environment. By focusing on strengths as well as challenges, our assessments provide clarity, validation, and actionable recommendations to help you navigate life confidently.

Medicare Referrals for Autism Assessments
Medicare provides rebates to help cover the cost of Autism assessments for children and young people under 25 years of age.
To access these rebates, your GP first refers your child to a paediatrician using MBS item number 135 for an assessment of a complex neurodevelopmental disorder (possible autism). Psychiatrists are also able to refer under item number 289.
Your paediatrician or psychiatrist can then refer you/your child to eligible allied health professionals (such as psychologists) for diagnostic testing.
Medicare rebates can cover up to 4 assessment sessions. You may be eligible to receive up to $395.40 in Medicare rebates for your child’s assessment. Please note you can only choose one: Medicare or Private Health Insurance. Both cannot be used together for the claim.

What to Expect When Booking an Assessment
We understand that organising an assessment can feel like a big step. Our friendly admin team is here to make the process smooth and stress-free from your very first call.
when you call to book
- When you first contact us, our team will have a brief chat to understand your needs and confirm the most suitable assessment package. You’ll then be asked to complete two short forms: (1) Screener Form - helps us confirm that the assessment you’re requesting is the right fit for your needs (2) Assessment Consent and Deposit Agreement - outlines the process, cost, and booking details.
- Once both forms are returned, we’ll contact you with available assessment dates. When you’ve chosen a date that suits you, we’ll take your $550 deposit over the phone to secure the booking (Please note: bookings cannot be held without a deposit.)
WHEN YOU ARE BOOKED
After payment, you’ll receive a confirmation email with:
- Your assessment date and times
- The clinician’s name and clinic details
- A breakdown of what to expect on the day
- Access to your Brilliant Minds assessment forms and online standardised questionnaires - to be completed one week before your appointment
These forms allow our clinicians to review your background information ahead of time so that your intake and assessment sessions are as effective and personalised as possible.
not sure which assessment to book?
- If you’re uncertain about which assessment best fits your needs, we offer Assessment Consultations with our regular assessment Psychologists.
- This is a short 50 minute, standalone appointment where a psychologist discusses your concerns and recommends the most appropriate assessment pathway.
- The consultation has a separate fee to the overall assessment cost, but in some cases, we may be able to credit part of this cost towards your full assessment if you proceed with booking.
