EARLY YEARS DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT
From 16 Days Old to 42 Months (3 Years, 5 Months)
about package 6
The Very Early Years Developmental Assessment aims to appraise the early intellectual development and developmental trends in young children. It provides valuable insights into specific areas of delay, offering information on whether a child is facing global delays across multiple domains, such as cognition and learning, language and communication, fine and gross motor skills, and personal-social-emotional development. This assessment is instrumental in guiding early intervention strategies and determining suitable educational placements.
The Very Early Years Developmental Assessment is a thorough examination tailored for children aged 0 months to 3 years, 5 months, exhibiting concerns related to developmental milestones. Administered by a Registered Occupational Therapist or a Registered Psychologist, this comprehensive assessment evaluates a child's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Its purpose is to identify developmental delays and areas where additional support may be required.
Utilising the Bayley-4 assessment, the Very Early Years Assessment covers five domains: cognitive (attention, memory, sensorimotor exploration, and concept formation), language (receptive and expressive language subtests), motor (fine and gross motor subtests), social-emotional (communicating needs, self-regulation using emotional signals), and adaptive behaviour (listening and understanding, talking, caring for self, relating to others, and playing).
The standardised assessment incorporates well-recognised tools in developmental assessment, including the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development-4th Edition for children up to 3 years, 7 months, as well as the Bayley-4 Social-Emotional and Adaptive Behaviour assessments. A comprehensive report is included as part of this assessment process.
The Bayley-4 serves as a roadmap for early intervention strategies. By pinpointing specific areas of concern, it empowers caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals with actionable insights to foster a child's development.
