Understanding Adult ADHD: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterised by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. While commonly associated with children and adolescents, ADHD can also manifest in adults, albeit often in subtler ways. Adults with ADHD may develop coping mechanisms, appearing functional externally while internally feeling overwhelmed.
Features of ADHD: ADHD symptoms encompass inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which can significantly impair daily functioning across various domains. Diagnosis typically follows criteria outlined in internationally recognised systems such as the DSM-5 and ICD-11, which categorise ADHD into presentations based on symptom combinations. Symptoms may include difficulty initiating tasks, impulsivity in speech or actions, and relationship strain. Our Adult ADHD Assessments helps you get started with your ADHD journey. Our Assessment includes 2-hour structured interview with a registered psychologist with experience in ADHD assessment. We provide a brief summary letter at the end of the assessment to further assist you if further assessment with a psychiatrist is required to discuss medication pathways.
about adult adhd assessment (online)
The Adult ADHD assessment is an assessment process designed for adults questioning neurodivergence specifically, ADHD. This assessment helps you get the ball rolling with a psychologist that will assess your adaptive functioning, executive functioning and inattentive, hyperactive and impulsive symptoms. We also screen for other common conditions to ensure we provide the best understanding of your profile. This is available only online.
Important Note/Disclaimer: For those seeking medication pathways for the treatment of ADHD, a psychiatrist assessment/appointment is needed. Our report can be shared with your psychiatrist to assist in this process. However, it is important to note that all psychiatrists will follow their own assessment process, and a diagnosis provided by a psychologist does not guarantee that a psychiatrist will prescribe medication and or may hold a different professional opinion. By engaging in our assessment process and following recommended guidelines, adults with ADHD can take proactive steps towards understanding and managing their neurodivergence effectively.

The interview focuses on screening for other co-occurring conditions. The first hour is only to be conducted privately with the adult being assessed.
- For the second part of the interview (or the second hour), we ask that you have a partner or parent present (or adult you trust and knows you well) if possible that can also provide additional collateral information and answer some questions, to ensure we gain a full understanding and are gathering sufficient information. This session covers the DSM-5-TR criteria for ADHD.
